Change is constant and inevitable especially in the fast-paced world of technology. Gone are the days where we use film cameras and head off to photo shops to get them printed. Now, we instantly take photos and view them from our smartphones which makes film cameras obsolete. Curious which amongst your everyday things are standing next in line for obsolescence? Here are the 10 things we won't be seeing by 2025.

1. LED Lightbulbs

In the sixties, light emitting diode (LED) lightbulbs began as something new and exciting and today, it is now commonly used as one of our conventional lighting source in homes, offices and the workplace. Over time, through research and development, the lighting industry is coming up with a new product that may be revolutionary: Organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting. Although it is still in its early stages, the light source is said to be highly energy efficient, does not get hot and distributes light evenly. The coolest thing about OLED tech is that it's paper thin, flexible and comes in different shapes and colours.

Manufacturers like LG is currently looking to further improve OLED light pricing and energy efficiency. Plus, many companies have found luminous reasons to incorporate it as part of their electronic devices which brings us to the next point.

2. LCD TVs

Couch potatoes, imagine having a semi-transparent TV in your living room that's so physically paper thin that you can roll it up like a newspaper and it does not require a backlight. It's like having a wallpaper that emits its own light and provides incredible lifelike picture quality across the walls. How cool is that?!

As OLED lights have such awesome futuristic features, it's no surprise that OLED TVs will be the replacing 'bulky', power-consuming LED TVs. Manufacturers such as LG and Philips are looking to forward to launch this ultra-thin beauty that boasts higher energy efficiency and better picture quality as compared to LED TVs.

3. Physical Storage Media

While we keep making jokes and memes on the things only '90s kids will remember, be prepared to come up with new ones as the list adds on once physical storage mediums like CDs, DVDs, USB flash drives and external hard drives become obsolete. Companies like Dropbox is offering cloud-based storage services that allow convenient and easy access to store or upload files, photos and more. As long as you stay connected to the Internet, you can view your files from any phone, table or computer. Also, you'll never have to worry about losing your files if your electronic device gets lost or crashes as they're safely backed up in the cloud.

4. Gaming Consoles

Relatedly, your boyfriend's Xbox One or Playstation 4 is so last season when today's world of gaming is all about console-free, cloud-based gaming and displaying graphics that give a "real world" feel. By using cloud, gamers will no longer have to go out and purchase new hardware as they can stream for the latest games hosted on the company's own remote servers. For example, companies like G-Cluster claims itself as a cloud game console, but technically, there isn't any physical video game console. All you need to do is to plug in a small device and you'll have easy access to the up to date games in high definition.

Watch G-Cluster's ad and you'll see why it's going to be the new PC gaming technology.

5. Automotive Mirrors

Automotive mirrors ( yes, the one we girls use it as a vanity mirror at times) will be replaced with a full-display mirror. Cadillac partnered with Gentex Corporation to create this concept of "streaming video mirror". It's not going to be like any other traditional mirror, the full display mirror comes with a tiny camera which is mounted on the rear of the car above the license plate. Your rear-view mirror will be an LCD showing a seamless 180-degree wide-angle view of the traffic behind you.

6. Wired Chargers

Tangled wires and fraying cables will be the least of your problems in a few years time. The wireless charging trend will soon take over, making wired chargers absolutely obsolete. For example, Samsung's fast charge wireless charging stand that has hit the stores enable users to place their phones on the stand and the device will start charging. Looking even further ahead, Apple is investigating ways to charge devices wirelessly and without contact using the small amount of power transmitted through Wi-Fi signals. While the concept is still at its early stages or research and development, this method of wireless charging still remains unclear.

7. Remote Controls

We often misplace remote controls and waste tons of time searching for it around the room frantically. Who needs dedicated remote controls when you have voice-operated devices? I mean, there are iPhone users who talk to Siri everyday and she works perfectly like an intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator. Let's not forget Alexa, part of Amazon Echo Dot's operating system. Watch the video ad here and you'll know exactly why it's the best selling product on Amazon.com in 2016. It works just like a prepaid card where you load your wallet with money using your debit card, credit card or mobile banking. Merchant establishments can collect payment by deducting from your e-wallet as well. It makes transactions very convenient, easy and safer than cash exchange.

9. Passwords

It looks like forgetting your login password wouldn't be such a problem in the later years. With features such as fingerprint readers and facial recognition being incorporated in today's smartphones and laptops, alphanumeric character passwords will be a thing of the past. Consider, for example, the fingerprint sensor on your iPhone which recognizes your fingerprint and allows you to do everything from unlocking your phone to making purchases. Similarly, Windows Hello facial recognition in Windows 10 uses this cool feature as a log-in option and it's also a useful tool for organising personal photo albums.

Other disruptive household appliances gained a roughly similar market share as the iRobot at the same stage in their life cycles. It is believed that this category will continue to expand in the coming years as the iRobot vacuum cleaner market have a 13.3% growth in domestic home robot sales. At a push of a button, you can get a robot to clean your house while you sit back and relax.
