Bad Fashion Habits You Must Stop Now

This is it! It's time for us to drop all of our bad fashion habits! You must be thinking it is easier said than done as habits by definition are hard to break! However, that doesn't mean we will stop trying. Regardless you promised yourself to plan your outfits for the week, or only invest in quality pieces rather than tons of trendy pieces. These little changes will definitely make a difference! Without further ado, I've rounded up several bad fashion habits all women are guilty of! And we should all simply stop doing them!

1. Not getting your clothes tailored

I couldn't stress this more but there's a reason why designers and stylist always tell you to invest in a good tailor! This is due to fit is so crucial that just by changing the length of pants or taking away extra fabric makes a difference in how the garment looks on you! So, if you ever wonder why some people look so good even in their basic tee and jeans, they're tailored!

2. Buying just because it's on sale

It's a tired trope as it's true - it doesn't matter how much you save when you buy something you'll never going to actually wear it! The solution? Don't be swayed by sale prices. Again, it's easier to said than done, yes. However, trust me, next time when you see something on major sale and your first impulse is to buy it, take a step back, and ask yourself, would you buy it if it was the original price? If the most attractive thing about this potential new piece is the deep discount, look elsewhere!

3. Buying too far outside your comfort zone

Yes, stepping out of comfort zone and trying new thing is great. However, it's also good to know your last and final limit. When comes to clothing, you should approach trends and unfamiliar silhouettes with an open mind - while still knowing what absolutely, positively won't work for you. If you know that you hate the idea of crop top, don't buy one because they're in at the moment!

4. Buying it because you'll wear it for this [insert hypothetical event]
When we love an item, we'll make any excuse just to buy that item even if it's somewhat impractical at the moment. For instance, I love ankle boots but is impractical to wear it in a tropical climate country. Hence, before you make any purchase, think about how you'll wear it and when you'll wear it (within a week? how?). If you don't plan on wearing it soon, take a pass.

5. Picking out your outfit in the morning instead of the night before

Not planning ahead for your outfits, you'll usually ending up standing in front of your closet in your towel and find that nothing seems right. And the worse thing is you'll end up having a huge pile of discarded options all over your bed, and throwing on whatever because "no one will care at class or work"! Hence, it's time to spend 10 minutes before bed and plan your complete outfit the night before!

6. Always turning to black for events such as parties, birthdays or weddings

You already know black is everyone's go-to color, so why not break out the mood and be different! There're so many ways you can outbreak. For instance, wear a bright canary-below top, a floral print dress, whatever you want as long as it is not black.

7. Do not keep all your receipts properly

If you tend to return your purchased items, receipt hoarding isn't a bad thing at all. Hence, stay organise and keep all the receipts in one place. It can either be in a pouch or a clear folder. BUT, definitely not crammed into your wallet!

8. Not having the basics covered

Many of us always come to this point when you have lots of clothes in the wardrobe but still feel like you have nothing to wear. This is because you don't have the basic staples to build your wardrobe! Trust me, the foundations of a wardrobe are super important. Thus, spend some time in figuring out which long-sleeved tee or opaque tights fit you needs the best. When the basics are covered, looking for fun pieces is way easier - and more enjoyable.

9. Not properly caring for your items

What's the point of spending gobs of money on amazing clothes and accessories if you're just going to let them fall apart? If you're doing major dough on investment pieces (or even if you're in the fast fashion lane and happily staying there), you want your things to last! Take time to learn how your clothes should be laundered (or dry cleaned) and stick to it. It takes time, yes, but so does earning money to buy more clothes. P.S NEVER EVER toss your sweaters in with your bras because they may snag, and of course never get your white fur flats wet, they will be impossible to clean!

10. Not investing in the right things

Certain buys regardless how pricey they are, they don't worth the investment make. Always be smart with your money and realistic about what marks an important purchase for you. My advice is invest in timeless pieces that will last forever. However, if you feel really strongly about something that wouldn't be considered a "worthy investment", it's totally okay to splurge sometimes.

11. Not having a signature look

Experimentation is awesome, but so is having a signature look. A look which people can relate or thought of you! It could be a haircut, a dress or a shoe style.

12. Forgetting to check online reviews

Online reviews should always be the first stop in finding out more information about the item and sometimes even how it looks on other shoppers who have bought the piece. Trust me, by checking out reviews can save you a lot of dramas in returning the items and getting refund.

13. Not buying new undergarments until you need them

We usually put bras and undies the last items on our checklist to buy for the New York. However, intimates are just as important as a new top. Having the right undergarment necessities will make getting dressed easier.

14. Forgetting to Accessorise

Before you leave the house, check the mirror and see if you can add anything else to your outfit to spice em up! It could be necklace, earrings, a belt or watch.
