Wasn't sure where to post this, but...
I'm just wondering - when I first opened my shop, I got 3 sales the first day and was blown away by that! Yay! Sales continued really well for a bit. They've slowed down quite a lot over the past week, but I'm wondering if anybody knows - where did all that traffic come from to begin with???
I've found loads of some of my items pinned to Pinterest, etc. so I just can't figure out what made Luulla have so much traffic and it's still pretty new.
I was and still am very happy here. Tommy is great about answering questions quickly and Maggie added a personal touch when I first joined.
Just fascinated with the fact that there was so much traffic!
Hi, The Gratitude Studio,
Thank you for posting this question!
Luulla run a series of promotion each day across many networks to ensure that the site has high views and attract new visitors. Each day, the community team select a number of sellers and promote your items across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr and many more. All these leads to an increase of views for your items and also leads to sale.
The site currently also receive around 25-30% of it's traffic through organic search and this number is increasing a few percentage point month by month. As an overall, the site is steadily growing in terms of both buyers and sellers. Currently around 75-80% of the sellers on the site has sales.
The conversion rate for the site is around 2.5-3%. This conversion rate is comparable with most ecommerce site and alternative marketplace. The rate is higher for certain sellers that promote their Luulla store more, and lesser for seller that promote their store less.
Seller with complete store information and has a minimum of 20 items also tend to be indexed more heavily by Google and also ten to generate more sales as the seller provide more choices and variety to buyers.
The site seem to continue to grow as we introduce more features and currently more than half of the buyers return to the site to browse on new items each week. In the coming one month time, we will also be introducing a few features that will allow discovery of items easier and also make browsing items more addictive.
This new feature will also allow seller to understand which type of items and style are popular among the buyers on the site.
I hope that this answer some of the questions that you have about how the site generate the amount of traffic despite being new and still growing.
Tommy
My sales are slow going but I just started listing a few weeks ago but hoping that will change soon
That's pretty amazing, Tommy! Thank you!

I think Tommy and the team spend time and energy getting traffic flowing towards our Luulla stores...
Luulla has a great facebook page, and the team work hard at making it look amazing!
Well done everyone.... smiles from this Elf! x
Well done! Tommy and Maggie so friendly and they are working pretty hard you can tell! so amazed about having a sale so fast! and so happy! : ) and you are right Tommy the more time promoting more chances.I need to focus also on that. In case someone is reading I would like to know who's fan of your store I can see a have three but can not see who they are if sellers or buyers... Good luck everyone!
Wow, OP, congratulations on your sales, that's fantastic!
And Tommy, I'm thrilled to hear how Luulla is promoting the site! How refreshing, and SOooo appreciated! Boy I need to add more stuff, darn it :-O
Thanks!
Thanks, for the information! I am very excited about the views I am receiving, although no sales yet. I know from experience that my particular type of shop can get sales weeks or even months after a customer starts looking. Obviously, wedding bouquets are not an impulse item and I often have many discussions with a bride before an order is actually placed.
My sales has suddenly stopped. but I'm gonna keep promoting.
Thanks Tommy for explaining all the promoting and hard work you all do behind the scenes. Much appreciated ! Hope it won't be too long before my first sale on Luulla !
Hi, all,
There are few threads that mentioned about sales and we think it would be great if we can provide some tips on how to increase the number of sales on the site.
There is a very close relationship between how much a seller promote her Luulla store resulting in the number of sales that a store has. For example, if you choose to promote your Luulla store very much more than your alternate store, the sales volume for your Luulla store will definitely be higher. The conversion rate for the site is around 2.5-3% in average, which means that these promotion does lead to conversion. It is also very normal for sales to drop of for a few days and maybe sometimes one to two weeks and pick back up again later.
One of the best method to minimize sales drop off is to ensure that you have a steady flow of customer base that make purchases from you during different cycle of the month or year, and this will require some effort from the seller side on promoting your Luulla store. The community team also does matching between your items with new buyers, and most of the time, it lead to new customer visiting your store and making purchases from you in the future. The current ratio of new buyers vs returning is around 65% vs 35%. What this means is that each day, new visitors are visiting your store frequently.
The easiest and most efficient way for promoting your Luulla store is to put a permanent link of your store URL in few places such as your Facebook page, blog and Twitter account. Seller that does this normally have higher sales volume. You can also tweet about your items and use the PinIt button to start pinning your items to Pinterest. Cross pinning among sellers also result in high views and bringing more sales to your store. Posting your item to your facebook timeline also make a great impact.
There are also some other factors such as pricing, product title and description that have some impact on your sales volume. For pricing, as an example, if your store is providing hand lotion. Do a search on the term hand lotion on the site and compare the pricing of your item with other similar items that other sellers are providing. If there is a close alternative item as the one you are providing, ensure that the price difference is within 10-15%. There is a buying behavior among buyers which is when they found an item that wish to buy, the buyer will perform a search on the site and sometimes end up choosing the closes alternative that is priced slightly lower.
For product description, store banner and store description. Do ensure that there are no outbound link in these sections. Putting outbound links in these section will cause buyers to leave your store accidentally and end up not making any purchases from you.
Sales might also be seasonal depending on the items you sell and sometimes it will stop for days and maybe one to two weeks and then suddenly picked up in volume. Many Luulla buyers also tend to save your items as favorite and return to make purchases days or weeks after they have favorited an item.
In the coming few weeks, the site will be introducing a new feature to allow sellers understand better what are the trends and style that the buyers prefer. With these information, sellers will be able to better understand the style and choices of different buyers. We think that these information will definitely be useful for sellers when it comes to deciding which are the better items to list on the site.
Thank you so much for all the feedback, and happy weekend to everyone!
Tommy
