Hi as a newcomer can I ask how vintage sellers gain rank in Google searches if we are not selling handmade items, and have not completed the handmade story section.
Does the system you have in place cater for vintage sellers in this regard, and if not currently will you consider adapting it for vintage in the future?
(I do have a few items that are handcrafted but have not yet listedthem)
Thanks for your help I hope I have posted this in the correct place
Hi, ButterflySue,
Thank you for posting here! Google will use the first 180-200 characters in The Handmade Story section to generate the snippet for the search result.
As a vintage seller, you can fill in this section with the information about your passion in vintage items, your journey collecting and selling vintage items online. In the future, we will include a different set of questions for vintage sellers so that you can share your experience in details too.
Google looks for a few things while indexing your store and your product items. For your store, it is important to make sure that you have a complete banner (980px x 100px), a profile photo, store description and upload up to a minimum of 20 items.
Search engine normally loves pages that are strong in content with minimum spam and advertising, and therefore the more meaningful content you put up on your store, and the more items you upload, the higher search engine will rank you.
For product items, it is important to have meaningful title. Make sure that your title is no longer than 80 characters. Also the first 200 characters in your product description is very important. A clear, simple to understand and comprehensive description normally will lead to higher ranking by the search indexer. Product tags that are meaningful will also help in your ranking.
Normally, it will take up to two weeks for a new store to appear in search engines.
Hope that these information are helpful, and thank you so much for posting the questions!
Tommy
