This fun, and quirky handmade illustration is perfect for Father's Day (17 June 2012 - UK), as a birthday card or just to for any cricket lover in your life! My dad played cricket at quite a high level and wore his Yorkshire cap at our wedding (at our request for everyone to wear a hat) which inspired me to draw this illustration.
This range is inspired by my day job, and the familiar figures often added into sketches by architects and interior designers. The idea behind these ‘blob men’ (as my husband calls them) is that no matter who you are, where you are, or when you are there, it takes the smallest of things to create a smile. It doesn’t matter about who these characters are, the simplicity and overall scene will hopefully provoke a smile. So please spread the word and a little bit of happiness to brighten someone’s day.
My original hand sketch was scanned in and then coloured digitally before being printed on gloss photopaper, and set in a cream mount - the mount is 12" x 10" / 305mm x 255mm which fits in a standard frame, and the visible illustration is 7.16" x 9.16 / 180mm x 230mm, although printed on A4 photopaper. The mount is stuck to the illustration with double sided tape, but if you would like the option to remove the mount please send me a message and I will use blu-tack.
