Primitive Vintage Look Pull Toy - Whimsical Circus Giraffe

I absolutely LOVE how this giraffe turned out!! I designed and created him in my mountain workshop with extreme attention to detail and love in every stitch. He really needs a name - let's call him Gemaine.

I made Gemaine primarily out of muslin. I stained him with my coffee and spice mixture, baked, sanded, stained and sanded again. I created his blanket attaching little rusty bells and fastened on his button eyes. He has a fantastic antique look. Once Gemaine was finished I created the cart for the base (the wheels do NOT roll) I made the base from a piece of pine wood which I painted in layers of black and a very dark green then sanded and distressed to look very old. I also created the rusty metal finish on the wheels using layers of acrylic paint and cinnamon. I attached a 'giraffe' sign to the base (made from a craft stick) and fastened the jute and hand made (from a dowel) pull to the base. The entire base was then sealed with a matte acrylic spray to ensure lasting enjoyment of the piece. Finally, I added the hand painted hang tag using a rusty safety pin.

Gemaine is 17 1/2 in tall and the wheeled base is 8 1/2 in x 3 in.

I know you will adore Gemaine. He is a very special creation. I'm so tempted to keep him myself!!
