This early 19th century handmade copper button is early Victorian or William 1V era or Regency. I had to clean it to remove the aeons of verdigris and mud that were obliterating this rare little beauty that is over 150 years old.
It is small and measures approximately 12mm ( 7/16ths ins) in diameter with a looped copper shank. The design has a repousse treatment with hammered and beaten marks. There are are few small dinks on the top so please do not expect a perfect button. The dome base underneath is base metal and attracts a magnet; but it is very light. There are what appear to be faint vestiges of printing on it or markings which are unreadable.
It would make a wonderful addition to a collection.
