The Taffy Box began in 2007 in, well, and actual salt water taffy box I had brought home from a beach vacation. I filled it with jewelry items to sell to my co-workers, from time to time. One day, somebody asked me, "When are you going to bring in The Taffy Box again?" I realized, then, that I had a product that buyers were looking for and I started thinking about opening my own boutique. About a year later I was diagnosed with cancer and had to quit working because the treatments became too difficult on my immune system to continue my teaching job. I spent a year in chemo therapy treatments, traveling to appointments and focusing on my health. That was when I started The Taffy Box from my home where I now work full time in my basement art studio. Happily, I have been in remission 2 1/2 years and enjoy sharing my creativity and inspiration through personalized creations you see here. I am a mother to 4 grown children ages 18-24, and live with my husband in Virginia. For 25 years we moved around the globe with his military career and developed a travel bug after being stationed overseas 3 different times. We enjoy kayaking our region's many rivers as well as cooking, hiking and of course I love being able to work in my p.j.s! I volunteer as a certified counselor with Y-Me, a nation wide breast cancer organization which provides treatment information, education and emotional care to newly diagnosed women.
