Having the intention to set up a store and sell your products but do not know where to begin with? Well, you can start off with Facebook Store. Here is why:

1. It is FREE

This is especially ideal for beginners with lower or limited capital to begin with. The Facebook store provides features that are essential for sellers to ensure a frictionless conversion process. (which will be mentioned in a while)

2. Facebook has a wide reach of audience (potential ones)

Facebook reported that a person spent about an average of 50 minutes on Facebook daily. 50 MINUTES! Wow, that is about an hour! This constitutes to the reason why Facebook is one of the effective platforms for e-commerce. (Well, of course depending if your target market and niche are Facebook users).

3. Gain more user data

The longer the time spent on Facebook in other words, the higher the engagement of the users, it will provide more customer data on their activities on Facebook. This will then increase the effectiveness in targeting Facebook ads and type of contents to provide.

4. Checkout process is done directly through Facebook

Now, Facebook store has integrated the checkout process which helps to smoothen the purchasing process without having to redirect to your website or through personal message. (oh, save the hassle!)

So read on to find out how to set up Facebook store with step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: Set up a Facebook Page

If you have an existing one proceed to Step 2. If you do not have one. Create using a new account or an existing one.

Step 2: Go to Settings

Once you have set up your Facebook Page. On the top right, click on the settings. It will direct you to the setting page.

Step 3: Click Edit Page

Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click add a tab. Add Shop as a new tab.

Step 4: Checkout on Facebook

There will be a different layout for U.S. account and non-U.S. accounts

For U.S. account users:

As you click on the Shop tab on the left of your page, this pop-up window will appear. Stride and Paypal are the current online payment processing system on Facebook. If you would like to proceed with collecting customer payments through Stride or Paypal on Facebook, create an account with Stride or Paypal or log into your existing account. Find out more about payments here.

For non US Accounts:

As the Stride and Paypal payment are only entitled to US accounts, for non-U.S. accounts the product link can be directed to your website or other payment websites you have.

Step 5: Add Products to Your Store

Once you have set up your payment, you can proceed with adding products to your store.

Once you click the add product button, this window will appear. Here, you will add product photo, product name and price. It would be advisable to provide descriptions for the product as it gives a clearer and detailed description of that particular product to the customers before purchasing. The checkout URL is where it will direct the customer to once they click on the check out button.

Your Shop will look like this once products are added.

You may organise your products by creating collections. You may do so by clicking on the Add Collection button.

Step 6: Manage Your Shop

You will be directed to this once you clicked on Manage Shop. Here you can manage and edit your products and create collections as well.

That's all for setting up a Facebook Store. Very simple and easy to manage platform. If you wish to spread out to multiple platforms, there are online e-commerce platforms like BigCommerce and Shopify that can sync and integrate your website with your Facebook store.
