London has a plethora of utterly amazing independent coffee shops. According to the British Coffee Association, UK drinks 55 million cups of coffee everyday (can you imagine that?!). Hence, I've scoured the streets of London to bring you the very best independent venues to visit for great coffee and of course amazing ambience! Whether you're an espresso, latte or even a macchiato lover, you're bound to discover a great list of London's top coffee shops!



1. Monmouth Coffee Company

Whenever you think of getting a great cup of coffee in London, Monmouth is the ultimate choice that can never go wrong! Monmouth, often known as the best coffee in all of London. Due to its popularity, be prepared to queue especially at the Borough Market hub during the Friday and Saturday when the market is in full swing! Since 1978, Monmouth has been roasting all of their coffee themselves at the Bermondsey site, and they do sell the beans.

2. The Monocle Cafe



The Monocle Cafe is a light, compact, hipster coffee-house that tucked away on the film-set worthy Chiltern Street. Though modest on size and menu, this petite hideaway serves Allpress blended roast alongside Swedish pastries and Japanese-inspired dishes. Everyone wants to treat Monocle Cafe as their best kept secret, but not worries, the staff and atmosphere will still make you feel like you're the only one who ever knew about it.

Kaffeine is an Australian style cafe that serves excellent coffee, great food (salads, soups, dangers) and welcoming service! If you ever travelled to Australia, you probably know that when it comes to java, our Antipodean cousins don't play around! If you haven't been make sure you pay a visit to Kaffeine to have a taste on great coffee!

4. Workshop Coffee Co



Workshop Coffee is one of the city's first food and drink concepts that artfully combined high quality food, excellent drinks and perfect prepared coffee. Most important is the big sky lights flood the space with sunlight and exposed brick walls covered in green combine into creating what must be one of the best work spaces you can possibly wish for as a coffee roaster.

5. Story Coffee



Story Coffee is a petite, bright cafe with high ceilings located close to busy Clampham Junction. Story Coffee is the shop to go to for a very green brunch and creamy coffee. Decorated with handmade wooden benches and stalls, the minimal Scandinavian vibe still lends a comforting air. Story Coffee is a cafe for those early birds out there who crave the enjoy morning sips while watching the city wake up as tit open its doors at 7am.

6. Flat white



If you're looking for another Antipodean-style cafe, make sure you don't miss Flat White! This tiny nook found in the pulsing heart of Soho will quickly become a place you will never tell anyone about for fear of breaking the caffeine-bolstered solace you find here! Flat white not only serves artisan coffee but also delicious food such as avocado toast! Making it the perfect breakfast and brunch spot!

If you plan to visit F&W, make sure you try their trademarked mini flat white which served in a small Duralex glass and just the right strength for a mid-afternoon coffee run. Owners Jorge and Rick met while working st Monmouth Coffee, and have transferred their expertise into choosing the best single-origin beans each season.

Curators coffee takes pride in sourcing only the highest quality speciality coffee from local and international roasters. Their house espresso, "Exhibition" is profiled and roasted exclusively for them by the world renowned Colonna Coffee. Besides serving specialty coffee, Curators Coffee also serves tea and freshly prepared food from their in-house kitchen. The forte of this cafe is it has exhibition in their own gallery store!
