This is a sold box that I’m making available as a made-to-order, commissioned piece. Due to the labor-intensive nature of this build please allow 4-6 weeks for the box to be completed and shipped. As with all my made-to-order commissions you'll be able to select a different lining material if you so desire.

This box is a nod to craftsman of the past. The style of inlay that I employed on the top of this box dates back to the Federal Period (early 1800's). All the work is done with hand tools and is a time-consuming endeavor from milling the extremely thin inlay stock (out of holly), to excavating the inlay recesses with fine hand tools, to carefully gluing in all the individual delicate pieces one at a time.

I find that pictures just don't capture the real life appeal of my boxes so I shoot videos when I can. Please see video of this box here:

The top is Black Walnut with Holly, Purpleheart, and another exotic species. The sides are Tiger Maple with some gorgeous figure.

I employed mitered joinery along with a significant number of miter keys, 20 in total, to pull elements from the top down through the sides of the box. The miter keys are in Walnut and Purpleheart.

The bottom of the bottom includes a upholstered panel with fine fabric.

This box was a work of love and a joy to create. It will serve as a lovely heirloom piece to be handed down proudly through generations.

Finished with a variety of products to enhance the grain as well as provide a high-gloss appearance. Finishing is the most variable and potentially complex part of woodworking. I easily spend the majority of time in my builds in finishing. Many stages... many products are involved in order to achieve what you see in my final products.

    Exterior Dimensions: 10″ x 7″ x 4.5″

    Interior Dimensions: 9.25 x 6.25″ x 3.25″

Depth of Bottom Portion of Box: 2.25″

On the undersides of all my boxes you'll find my own, unique, label which I spent months having custom designed and commissioned through a printer for my heirloom boxes.

I generally ship my orders within 24 hours of payment received (and cleared if check/echeck) via USPS Priority Mail. I ship internationally frequently and I ship USPS International Priority. Please note that I will refund any overage on International Shipping costs. You pay exact shipping only.
