This well-executed keepsake box has all the fine details including an elegantly inlaid border on the top, upholstered lining, and attractively finished to a high-sheen gloss.

This box has sides make from Mahogany and a top of highly-figured Tiger Maple. Very impressive depth to the figure of this Tiger Maple. Inlaid into the top is a border made from Ebony and Holly. I composed the materials such that a thin section of sapwood (white section) of the mahogany holds the white Tiger Maple top and in so doing provides for a more seamless transition between the top and sides... the top sort of, organically, "melts" into the sides. The video really shows off this effect as well as the fantastic figure in the Tiger Maple.
The joinery on this box is miters with Ebony miter keys which have a dual purpose in adding both a decorative element as well as making the miter joint stronger.
The bottom of this box has a premium upholstered, black velvet fabric lining. My interiors are precision fit and installed.
As a point of clarity, my linings are truly upholstered. I've studied furniture upholstery and have developed a custom process for my boxes. The bottom panel in my boxes are a sandwich of four different materials, again, that I've specifically adapted for my boxes. The end result is a plush bottom with a furniture feel to it, adding what I believe to be another high-quality touch. I mention this as I've seen dubious sellers claiming a piece of fabric wrapped around cardboard as "upholstered" so buyer beware when you see that word used.
Finished with a variety of products to enhance the grain as well as provide a high-gloss appearance. Finishing is the most variable and potentially complex part of woodworking. I easily spend the majority of time in my builds in finishing. Many stages... many products are involved in order to achieve what you see in my final products.
