This well-executed memory box has all the fine details including an elegantly inlaid border on the top, upholstered lining, and attractively finished to a warm gloss.

The sides and top of this box are Mahogany. Inlaid into the top is a banding featuring black, yellow (gold), and browns.
The joinery on this box is miters with Ebony miter keys which have a dual purpose in adding both a decorative element as well as making the miter joint stronger.
The padded lining is upholstered with a black fabric which visually touches on the black Ebony miter keys and the black in the inlaid banding
Finished with a variety of products to enhance the grain as well as provide a high-gloss appearance. Finishing is the most variable and potentially complex part of woodworking. I easily spend the majority of time in my builds in finishing. Many stages... many products are involved in order to achieve what you see in my final products.
