Love this box! The top is a piece of highly figured Tiger Maple. The sides are figured Bubinga. Finished buttery smooth... will be a great box for any situation where a beautiful heirloom box is needed. The joinery on this box is miters with Maple miter keys which have a dual purpose in adding both a decorative element as well as making the miter joint stronger.
The padded lining is upholstered with a very dark brown premium velvet.
Finished with a variety of products to enhance the grain as well as provide a high-gloss appearance. Finishing is the most variable and potentially complex part of woodworking. I easily spend the majority of time in my builds in finishing. Many stages... many products are involved in order to achieve what you see in my final products.
