This well-executed keepsake box has all the fine details including an elegantly inlaid border on the top, upholstered lining, and attractively finished to a high shine gloss.
The sides of this box are Brazilian Cherry with an attractive grain that flows from side to side. The top is Katalox, also known as Mexican Royal Ebony. It's a very dense material that takes a high polish. Inlaid into the top is a wood banding made of Ebony, Padauk, Mahogany and Holly to accentuate and frame the gorgeous Katalox top.

The padded lining is upholstered with a premium black velvet fabric.
Finished with a variety of products to enhance the grain as well as provide a high-gloss appearance. Finishing is the most variable and potentially complex part of woodworking. I easily spend the majority of time in my builds in finishing. Many stages... many products are involved in order to achieve what you see in my final products.
One minor condition note: There's a very tiny nick to the edge of the left side of the top. It's so insignificant that I didn't feel it warranted refinishing. I have, however, decided to reduce the list price by $30. Course minor imperfections are part of the "allure" of genuine handmade products so I probably should charge extra, right? Heh... ok, maybe not.
