This vase I originally found on clearance at a retail store, and started off as green glass. When I saw it on the shelf, I wanted to hang beads around the rim and put a string of lights inside. So, once I got it home, I decided to kind of replicate that with paint and stencils. From the top, I painted chains of different shapes, sizes, and styles to replicate the beads I had first envisioned. Then I wanted to create a version of "light" for the base. Seeing that Ganesha is widely accepted as a patron of the arts and science, I feel like this is kind of a version of "light" in the sense that art and science continue to challenge and open our minds and preconceived notions of reality. That being said, I also continued the theme of "light" with the other symbols and their reference to the third eye. Whether this piece stands alone, full of incense, or holding fresh wildflowers, it will bring good energy where ever it finds a home.
