I found this small bud vase at an estate sale in Lake Toxaway, NC. It was worn and has a little chip near the base, but I fell in love with the design. When I saw the line detail, the possibilities of adding color and glam flooded my artist's eye. I ended up going with a pairing of two of my favorite colors - cerulean blue and rose gold copper. Now usually, rose detail like this can look a little too country, or just not really my taste. However with this vase, because it stands only about five inches tall, the varying sized roses are - the only word that comes to mind is "cute". It creates just a touch of Victorian flair that each bloom varies in size and shape - as if carved individually and one at a time. The opening is slightly warped, which to me, makes it look that much more genuine. I adore this piece. It would look great as an accent for a bloom or two on an office desk, or simply on the nightstand to hold a pen or two. Wherever you decide, I'm sure you will appreciate just as much as I do.
