"The Secret Garden was what Mary called it when she was thinking of it. She liked the name, and she liked still more the feeling that when its beautiful old walls shut her in no one knew where she was. It seemed almost like being shut out of the world in some fairy place." ~Frances Hodgson Burnett~
What secrets does she hold, locked fast, deep within her soul? The ancient key has long since gone missing, but perhaps, with a gentle touch and a quiet love, she will allow you a momentary glimpse of the garden that is uniquely hers.
The focal of this necklace is a stunning antique, solid brass Escutcheon (which measures 1.5in by 3/4 inch), or keyhole cover. Beautifully aged from the passage of time, it remains as I received it. I only sealed it with museum quality Renaissance Wax to stop the aging process and to protect the wearer's skin and clothing. The cover has been bedecked with a soft ivory colored resin rose and a pretty little pink resin daisy. Tiny Swarovski crystals in Jet and clear rest between the flowers for a tiny bit of sparkle. A very highly detailed filigree butterfly in solid brass that has been electroplated in sterling silver and then oxidized to give it an aged look sits among the flowers. The chain is an antique brass color that measures 16 inches and is finished off with an antique brass colored lobster clasp.
This particular chain is NOT nickel free; thus, if you have metal allergies, I do not recommend that you purchase this particular necklace. However, I do have other Escutcheon necklaces which feature SOLID BRASS chain that is hypoallergenic.
This piece is literally the only one. Once it is sold, it is gone for good. I will not make a reproduction.
