This small square Czech ,Art Deco Sash buckle is set with very bright coloured rhinestones in red, cobalt blue and emerald green. It is small and measures 3.3x3.3cm (1-1/4insx1.1/4ins) square. It is made in brass with a beaded border and wire filigrree oval centre.The central bar is positioned to give iit a more lozenge shape.The central bar would take a belt measuring 3.8cm(1-1/2ins ) wide. It is shown for scale with an American coin.The clear red,blue and green rhinestones have aclosed cup setting at the back and a four claw setting topside to hold them in.
It is in very good condition with very minimal verdigris which I have not attempted to clean as it is barely visible and the macro lens seems to have exaggerated it. All the stones are intact,not chipped and shine very brightly. It is typical of the Czech buckles that were popular at the time, although it could also have been made in elsewhere in Europe.
It would be perfect for your vintage flapper outfit, collection or sewing project. You could even incorporate it into a piece of jewellery or decorate a hat or purse.
