This handmade Cambridge journal has been re-crafted from an old Ordinance Survey Map (circa 1965) of Cambridge, England (Sheet 52/45) on a scale of 1:25,000, or 2 ½” to one mile.
The front and back of the journal are made from the map covers, backed with white card to provide additional strength. The covers show their age, with some wear and tear, adding to their charm and desirability.
The journal measures 4¼in (12cm) wide by 8¼in (21cm) tall. One section of the map has been included within the book, centred on Cambridge itself. This section is double folded, which measures 17½in (44cm) wide by 8in (20cm)tall when expanded out. The map neatly folds within the book and provide a quick reference.
There are 64 pages of blank white 80 gsm paper making a total of 128 blank sides. The journal has been hand sewn using gold coloured waxed linen thread using a Coptic stitch.
This special, one-off journal has lots of space for notes and sketches, doodles, perfect for capturing ideas and thoughts on the move. It would make a lovely travel journal for someone planning a trip to Cambridge, England.
A perfect gift for anyone who loves maps and Cambridge.
