I made this stoneware plate from a thin piece of clay. It is 5 1/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches square.
The corners turn up and during the last firing it warped so one corner is lower than the others. This does not affect the use of the plate it just adds to the charm of a truly homemade piece of art.
I painted a picture of a Japanese village looking towards Mt. Fuji with ceramic watercolor underglazes, and finished the plate with a clear glaze.
The plate can be used for snacks or candy, a small sandwich or some sushi. It can also be a generous sized soap dish, a place for your rings by the sink, a sponge holder or a beautiful art dish on your desk for paper clips.
All my glazes are food safe and dish washer and micro proof.
