"Indian Corn Collection" Necklace, Earrings & Broach Beading Tutorial #15411
Indian Corn is synonymous with fall and Thanksgiving, and now you can stitch up your own fun and festive Indian Corn jewelry to wear and share this holiday season! In this collection, I show you how to make three separate Indian Corn projects (earrings, a necklace & a broach) so you can make the ones you want to wear and (seeing as it's the season to give) whip up a few extra to share! These make a great gift for friends and neighbors and...don't forget about your child's favorite teacher - who wouldn't love to receive a colorful handmade Indian Corn broach to wear during the holidays! This simple beading pattern, with 100 high resolution photos and easy to follow step-by-step directions, will teach you how to easily make each of these warm and whimsical Indian Corn projects that are the perfect size, with the beaded corn cob measuring one full inch in height and the raffia “corn husks” adding an extra inch or more, depending upon your personal preference! Go on, add some color and whimsy to your wardrobe this fall! Happy holidays!
Tutorial by: Lane Landry
Recommended Materials:
- 11/0 seed beads in up to (9) colors - Each color blend of corn consists of (3) main or predominant colors and (2) accent colors. For the accent colors, I used (1) color from each of the other (2) color blends to visually tie all (3) cobs together.
- 6lb FireLine beading thread (I used Smoke for red and purple cobs and Crystal for the yellow cob)
- Beading needle (I used #12 long)
- Raffia (thin kind approximately ½” wide – not thick kind used in large floral arrangements)
- Beaders'/Jewelry glue - for all 3 projects (I use G-S Hypo Cement)
- 4mm open jump ring in gold (for necklace)
- End clasps in gold
- Gold cord ends - for earrings and necklace (I used 5x3mm cord ends with a 1mm hole for 3mm cord)
- Earwires - for earrings
- Broach bar pin 1” in length with 3 holes in the back - for broach
- Flush cutter
- Flat nose pliers
- Small sharp scissors
