All of my items come beautifully gift wrapped with a box, ribbon, and flower.

I began making jewelry about 5-6 years ago and instantly became hooked. I am a school counselor and often make jewelry at night to help myself unwind from the day. Recently I've become intrigued with the use of fabric, buttons, and ribbon to make different unique jewelry designs. My style changes frequently and I'm often motivated by current trends, materials, etc. Enjoy!

Tell us a bit about yourself and Styles by Holly ?
I’m a school counselor and really enjoy working with kids. I feel lucky to have a job where I can go to work and spend time listening and interacting with students. My fiance and I live in an apartment right outside the city, and he has been so supportive in my love for creating jewelry that he has let me take over our spare bedroom as a design studio (although I know he saw potential for a man cave). We often will spend time visiting family or friends outside the city for a change of pace, however I love living and being a part of city life. Styles by Holly was developed after I had spent a few years making jewelry for myself and friends, and had begun selling some of my pieces. I was and am very lucky to have so much support from my family and friends! A friend of mine told me about Etsy and suggested that I create a site to reach a wider audience. At this point I was creating jewelry all the time so it made absolute sense. I checked it out and it wasn’t long before Styles by Holly was started.
How did you get started in doing what you do? How long have you been creating?
I began making jewelry about 6 years ago and became instantly hooked. I was fascinated by the endless possibilities and couldn’t stop my mind from designing my next piece. I started designing jewelry when I was looking for a way to unwind after a long work day and to take my mind off of everything going on at work. Luckily, I have found something that does exactly that! Most nights of the week I come home from work and after dinner I do something jewelry related, whether it is working on a new design, editing pictures, or posting new items to my website.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration from almost everywhere, people, places and things. Most of my inspiration has come from my parents and my sister (my brother offers the logisitical side, which is always helpful too). My mom owned a beautiful flowershop for many years and is often doing very creative things with her home. She has this ability to see things through a different perspective, and she gets really excited about designing something new, which I inherited. We both are like kids in a candy store when we learn how to create something new! My dad is creative in his own way, he will design things out of materials he finds around the house, and all of them have a practical purpose. He is also currently working on a big project that I can’t wait to see once it is all finished. My sister has really taught me to value color much more than I have in the past. She has this amazing eye for color and can instantly see how well certain colors and materials will work together. When I need an opinion on a new design or feedback, my family is always the first people I go to.
What was your first creation? Do you have a favourite?
One of my first creations was a chain necklace with beads hanging down all in the front. I remember loving it and feeling so proud that I had actually made something I could wear. My favorites are always changing, whatever new design I create usually ends up being my favorite until I design something new, and then that ends up being my favorite. However, out of all my designs I would have to say that my all time favorites are my short fabric beaded necklaces, expecially the chunky multi-layered ones, and the beaded and pearl necklaces with flowers on the side.
What have you created recently?
Recently, I’ve been making some fabric covered button rings and fabric flower and cuff bracelets. I often go through phases of designing different kinds of jewelry and my focus now is on designing some new bracelets.
