About TheFeminineTouch

I live in the beautiful county of Yorkshire in England, 5 minutes walk from the rolling hills and moors.

I work full time for the local council where information Technology is my specialism.

For years I use to come home from work and start again after tea; researching and writing reports for work. I like to be a busy bee, you see, always thinking and always working.

Just over a year ago I decided that I needed to change some things in my life and I made a conscience decision NOT to carry on working at home in the evening. But how do you tell your mind that it has not to carry on thinking about work. That was my dilemma.

....................and then I remembered, some beautiful items that I had seen in a little shop in Hebden Bridge (well known for craft shops). They were snazzy items made from felted woolen jumpers. I instantly knew that I wanted to do the same, so I started hunting round the local charity shops and car boot sales sourcing jumpers. I love the idea that I am recycling items, and I love the faces of the staff in the charity shop when I purchase jumpers with moth holes in them. I don’t mind you see , I just work round them.

I have also started knitting again , something I use to do 20 years ago. It’s lovely to pick up my needles in an evening, so relaxing. It really takes my mind off work !

My work is original and unique. I work with the re-cycled items and the yarn that I have sourced and then decide on what works well together.

Many of my items being one-of-a-kind. Everything is designed and handmade by me.

I am learning all the time, picking up hints and tips from all over the place. I am currently looking for knitting courses where I can improve my skills as everything I know at the moment is self taught. I imagine my items for sale will get better and better as time goes on.

My blogs will keep you informed of progress in my quest to conquer crafting , please take a look - http://bloglaunchfemininetouch.blogspot.com/
