About Upcycled Jewelry by dekoprojects

I create jewelry using recycled materials, such as plastic from PET bottles and paper beads. I often use some old beads and buttons from my collection (found or received from my friends).

I want to convince people, that they can find beauty in every material, even if they consider something to be simple rubbish.

Tell us a bit about yourself and Upcycled Jewelry by dekoprojects ?
It's all about rubbish. Is there any reason why we can't see the decorative value of all the garbage we produce? Plastic bottles. Tonnes of waste paper. Clothes we don't love anymore. Even old jewelry! All these things are destined to end their lives on a rubbish dump. I don't want that to happen, not only because landfills use up the space where another forest could be growing peacefully, but also because all those things thrown away are to be never used again... And I ♥ upcycling, giving things a new life, but above all, the faces people make when they hear that my jewelry is made of the things they throw away every day. It's not an easy work but I like it. Sometimes making another necklace takes a lot more time than I imagined it would, it takes so long that I start asking myself: "Why can't I use ready beads?" But then I remind myself that I don't want to be another person who gives bead factories a reason to produce more glass and more plastic.
How did you get started in doing what you do? How long have you been creating?
I started creating my upcycled jewelry 2 years ago, when I heard about using trash as a creative material. I've made many beautiful things since then: some for me, some for my friends and family, and some are available to you through my shop. Here are some of my oldest works so you can compare and see my progress.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get inspiration from my materials. I try to use these plastic bottles that are very common, this is why you can find so many examples of blue jewelry among my works (blue bottles from mineral water are the most common in my collection of plastic bottles).
What was your first creation? Do you have a favourite?
I think my first creation were these little earrings made of metal springs & beads repurposed from old jewelry. I loved them but I didn't have any kind of back stoppers for them, and I lost one! I didn't have a spring of the kind I used in these earrings, so I couldn't recreate them. This is a loss that stil hurts mel My favorite creation is the necklace I made a few months ago. I think it's one of my best works.
What have you created recently?
I have my summer vacation now so I have more time to create too :) Here are my latest creations! I'm not a very organized person, especially if I don't have much time for my jewelry, but I really hope I'll be updating this section really systematically :)
