Why to buy mass-produced cheap accessories when there is thousands beautiful things that are quality and one of a kind?

Tell us a bit about yourself and Izabela Motyl ?

I am a maker and designer, I am learning all my life but my favorite technique is crochet. If you follow me you discover what a person can make using just a thread and crochet hook. I am also a mum and Learning Support Assistant in a primary school. I collect old lace patterns, craft books, make jewellery and grow plants in my tiny garden. I love flowers and they are always a part of my life, sometimes they appear in my designs, sometimes they are just making me look and find new inspiration.

How did you get started in doing what you do? How long have you been creating?

I have been making things since I remember and I learnt to crochet from my grandmother. That wasn't just enough, I studied all the books and magazines about sewing and crocheting that I could find. After years of practicing my favorite technique I got to the point that I am looking for the finest things I can make and using the finest hook ever.

Where do you get your inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is always nature, growing plants and blooming flowers. I am a little curious about how our world is built and that shows up in my creations. I love old fashion photos and browsing through my big collection of crochet lace patterns. I get new 10 new ideas making one thing and never can find a time to create everything I was thinking of.

What was your first creation? Do you have a favourite?

I don't know what was my first ever thing I made, but I remember when I was little girl the drawing of a robin I did. My great grandma was showing it to every one around but I don't know what has happened to it later. I was dressing up my doll in the things I hand crocheted or hand knit, but I remember when I was 14 I made a heart shaped cushion for my then boyfriend for a Valentine Day, it was an amazing and comfortable piece of work, made from plush, but on a day he split up with me and I have given it to my grandma who actually was still using it few years ago :)

What have you created recently?

My newest line is a very delicate jewellery crocheted with fine metallic thread and based on doily patterns from my collection. All the earrings and pendants are very light and have intricate pattern, they make huge impact on people because it hard to believe that they were crocheted by hand. The stitches are really tiny, but I really love creating them.
