I started Rheith Raptures after a lot of random thoughts about creating art that I enjoy whilst staying at home with my family. I enjoy fashion, I guess you could say more of an indie style, so I took what I liked and ran with it, creating jewelry and accessories that one might consider a form of art.
Everything is made by my own two hands, I string every bead, tie every knot, sew every stitch. I come up with the designs in my head, on a whim or inspired by some random thing I might come across in my daily living. Be it the color of the sky during an approaching summer storm, the way the ganache looks when I make the morning hot chocolate, etc. etc.
I couldn't have gotten anywhere tho, done any of this, without the loving support of my husband. He's a great guy, my muse for all things, my champion.
Tell us a bit about yourself and Rheith Raptures ?
I'm Rhonda, I live in Virginia. I started Rheith Raptures as a way to do what I love, that is creating art and just generally being crafty. The name comes from a combo of mine and my husbands name. In our house, everything is "Rheith." Rheith Burgers for dinner, Rheith pie for dessert, etc. Raptures because why not? I like the double R.
How did you get started in doing what you do? How long have you been creating?
I had been pondering something to do with my time for awhile now. I already paint, and that's loads of fun. Some of my art is for sale here, check it out if you're so inclined! Aside from that, I like to make things, so things were made and here I am. I've been a crafty crafter for a long, long time.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Random songs provide great inspiration, moods, feelings, that sort of thing. Inspiration is such a loaded question anyway, why don't you tell me where you get your inspiration? Let me know sometime hey!
What was your first creation? Do you have a favourite?
My first creation? Like you mean that macaroni xmas ornament I made 20 something odd years ago? If we flash forward to the future a bit, I painted a lot of paintings in my young adult life, and had a fling with ceramics for awhile. As fas ar jewelry goes, I rolled a boat load of paper beads earlier in 2012 and that was a tremendous amount of work. I tend to favor paintings the most!
What have you created recently?
I just got back into making candles. I started that ages ago when my mother, or Santa, I should say, got me a candle making kit for Christmas. It's probably been 10 years or so since then, so it was nice to start back up.
