Critical care nurse, mom of four, volunteer breastfeeding "coach", inventor of a neonatal kangaroo care wrap, I've been sewing ponchos, baby carriers and "canopy" style nursing covers since January 2011.
I own a lactation supply shop (5.5 years) and it's my clients that asked me to sew items for them. I grew up with a mom who made all our clothes and my dad (University prof) crafted items out of leather and canvas (including baby carriers) for a hobby. So I figured, why not give it a shot.
My UCHI ponchos and water ring sling carriers at now selling in Cancun (top hotels/boutique in airport).
My website is uchimama.net I'm located in Western Canada.
My latest creation is the neonatal kangaroo care wrap I invented for premature and full term babies (asked by my hospital at a craft show Nov 2012). It now has a patent pending.
I grew up in Chile and France surrounded by fabrics. I have a feel for luxurious fabrics and love silk/linen for my carriers.
My daughter is a professional model (that's her in the photo), she's wearing a limited edition ripped torn tie dye poncho I made.
