This well-executed jewelry/keepsake box has all the fine details including an elegantly inlaid border on the top, leather lining, and attractively finished to a high shine gloss.

The sides of this box are Mahogany. The top is Katalox, also known as Mexican Royal Ebony. It's a very dense material that takes a high polish. The top has an inlay made of Osage Orange and holly and strikes an elegant look.
The joinery on this box is miters with Paduk miter keys which have a dual purpose in adding both a decorative element as well as making the miter joint stronger.
Lined with a quality black leather.
Finished with a variety of products to enhance the grain as well as provide a high-gloss appearance. Finishing is the most variable and potentially complex part of woodworking. I easily spend the majority of time in my builds in finishing. Many stages... many products are involved in order to achieve what you see in my final products.
