This wooden spatula is 13 inches long with a 3 inch wide blade and an angled handle to clear the sides of the pan and a thin edge to slide right under your fried eggs. A wooden spatula is the best thing you can do for your expensive pans. You can turn it up on end and chop up ground meat while browning it and you can cut cornbread or cake right in the baking pan. The last picture is my own spatula which was the second one I made back in 2002 when I was first learning. It is well loved and it gets used daily. It is also Cherry. Just look at the beautiful patina. All I have done to it is to treat it with beeswax and mineral oil every couple of weeks. This one will get that dark in a couple of years and it will stay as smooth because we specially treat it during the finishing process. We raise the grain several times and sand it to 320 grit and then soak it in a bath of hot mineral oil and beeswax.
Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water, towel dry, and apply some mineral oil or walnut oil every couple of weeks or you can buy some of our spoon oil finish which is Beeswax and mineral oil. A 4 oz. jar lasts for a long time and it will help to keep your spoon looking and feeling good for many years.
