This listing is for a sweet set of 3, lavender filled wool balls. This set is READY TO GO, no waiting. These sets are getting popular...folks like the idea of NATURAL air fresheners...NO CHEMICALS! The scent from the organic lavender inside the wool ball, is natural and pure. The scent is mild and consistent. If you give the balls a squeeze, that will activate the scent to become a little stronger.
The scent from the lavender buds will last a very long time, years in fact. Colours of this set include: natural grey sheep wool roving, hand dyed blue roving, hand dyed yellow roving. Each ball measures approx 5.5" around, and that will vary slightly as that's the beauty of handmade.
What are these used for? Folks are using these as drawer fresheners, closet fresheners. Throw one in your linen cupboard. Also, these are great for using in your suitcase before and during travel, to freshen things up. We all know there can be that certain 'suitcase smell'...and these can eliminate that :)
Simply place them in a bowl on your favourite shelf or table and enjoy them that way. You can add more sets along the way as well to make a nice collection. Although these lavender wool balls are a functional item, they are also extremely pretty.
I buy my organic lavender buds from our local lavender farm, "Lavender Sense", www.lavendersense.com. The wool batting is purchased from a local sheep farm, www.cedarviewfarms.org The wool roving is purchased from a fellow etsy shop: jstforewe
If you browse my other listings, you will see I happily promote my other wool ball sets(including lavender filled) as toy sets for babies, pets and for use as dryer balls. However this set is ONLY recommended as use for air freshening or decor purposes. I am able to sell these sets at a lower cost because I don't take extra steps to ensure their safety as toys or for use as dryer balls. That being said, they are still firmly felted and carefully handmade entirely.
INFO ON LAVENDER:
"Lavender, also known as Lavandula angustifolia, is one of the most widely used, versatile herbs known today. It is considered a member of the Labiatae family, which also includes mints and the plant originated in England, France, Tasmania, and Yugoslavia.
Lavender flowers have long since been used to treat digestive problems, insomnia, anxiety, and restlessness. Until World War I, lavender was used to treat and disinfect wounds. For centuries, English farmers would place lavender flowers in their hats to prevent headache and sunstroke. Women would place sachets of lavender in their closets and wardrobes for fragrance, in addition to using it in potpourri. Hospitals used lavender as an antiseptic and disinfectant to sterilize surfaces and equipment." ~~ The Many Benefits of Lavender, Alternative and Natural Medicine, tmeetz.hubpages.com/hub/lavender
