Each of these wool balls has been felted using clean carded sheep wool batting. Inside each ball there is organic lavender. The scent will last a very long time, years in fact. I've wrapped each ball with hand dyed wool roving in colours of lavender, purple, mint. I've added accent on each ball using yellow and ivory colour Xbulky thick and thin wool yarn. This set works wonderfully as DRYER BALLS, I've firmly and securely felted them for the job. They are also pretty enough to be simple home decor, bowl fillers, shelf ornaments, natural air fresheners. They do well sitting in drawers, closets, suit cases in order to freshen things up naturally!
Each ball is approx 7" around but will vary slightly as that's the beauty of handmade :)
**please note**: This set is also suitable as a toy set for babies and children. Great way to teach shape, colour, texture and smell! Also wonderful as home decor...a boho feel, natural and pure home decoration for your shelf, or fave table. These look fab in a funky bowl or vintage jar.
Wool Dryer Balls are a chemical free, eco-friendly alternative to using any fabric softeners including dryer sheets. You just throw your set of dryer balls into the dryer with your clothes. These creations help prevent static cling and they gently and naturally soften your clothes as they dry. Wool pulls moisture from your clothes as they dry, often shortening the time needed to complete a load. The more dryer balls you use at a time, the shorter time needed to dry your load. This makes your laundry chore a greener experience! They extend the life of your clothes and limit the chemicals entering your body because harsh chemicals aren't being used like in liquid fabric softeners and dryer sheets. Each set will typically last years. I read where one blogger said her set has lasted 8 years! The very same original set! Wool Dryer Balls are not loud in the dryer, even if you use 12 at a time(like me!). I've seen plastic dryer balls for sale, with the same premis as wool dryer balls, however, the plastic dryer balls ARE very loud in your dryer, as well, plastic releases dangerous chemicals into the air when heated.
OTHER USES: I've been told that my wool balls are also being used as closet fresheners, drawers fresheners, in the linen cupboard, in a suitcase to freshen things up before travel and during travel. As well, a colourful and funky set looks awesome in a neat container on display between uses OR as unique shelf or table decor!
"Lavender, also known as Lavandula angustifolia, is one of the most widely used, versatile herbs known today. It is considered a member of the Labiatae family, which also includes mints and the plant originated in England, France, Tasmania, and Yugoslavia.
Lavender flowers have long since been used to treat digestive problems, insomnia, anxiety, and restlessness. Until World War I, lavender was used to treat and disinfect wounds. For centuries, English farmers would place lavender flowers in their hats to prevent headache and sunstroke. Women would place sachets of lavender in their closets and wardrobes for fragrance, in addition to using it in potpourri. Hospitals used lavender as an antiseptic and disinfectant to sterilize surfaces and equipment." ~~ The Many Benefits of Lavender, Alternative and Natural Medicine, tmeetz.hubpages.com/hub/lavender
