Gold filled wire is not solid gold, which makes it very economical to get a gold piece of jewelry without the high gold price tag. It is not the same as gold plating either. In this case, 14K gold has been bonded to a brass core. It is stronger that gold plating and will last longer than plating does if properly taken care of.
