This very tiny footed 1930's Art Deco porcelain egg cup has very shiny pale biscuit coloured, lustre glaze. It is 4mm higher than the Sylko cotton reel shown with it. Possibly a quail's egg might just fit it.
It is very unusual and I have never seen another like it, although I have been collecting egg cups since the sixties.
It measures approx 1.5 ins high (3.7cm),with a bowl approx 1ins (2.3cm) It is in good vintage condition with no cracks or chips and all the imperfections occured during manufacture. The glaze has been rather patchily applied and there are a few blobs under it.There are two very tiny pin holes on the rim, shown in picture 6.There is no base mark. It dates to the Art Deco period 1930's made in Japan or the far East.
It comes from a non-smoking, pet free environment and will be shipped well protected in a little cardboard jewellery box---yes it is that small! If anybody out there has one like this please convo me I would like to know more about it. Please note there are some odd highlights in the photos caused by my reflected clothing and window lighting.
Shipping is for UK second class and ordinary airmail.
