I am a metal worker living in Austin Texas. I have worked for other metalsmiths over the last decade, and decided to try out my own designs. Smithing of any sort has a tradition of making functional items that are beautiful. I try very hard to keep that balance. Currently I work in stainless steel. I like it best because I do not have to worry about it tarnishing or rusting later on. I form the metal cold with ball pein hammers and wood blocks in the traditional form of whitesmithing. Whitesmithing, as I am often asked, is the method of making armor. The metal is formed cold, so that it retains strength. If you have any requests or suggestions please feel free to contact me, I love getting new ideas, and making custom work. My work as it happens is very green. It will last forever so you will not have to replace it, but if you decided you did not want it you could put it in the recycle bin. The steel I use is made from about 60% recycled materials to start. There are no paints or chemicals used in the finish process, and my shop is powered by solar panels and elbow grease. I did not set out to make such sustainable work, but sometimes you get to where you should be without even trying.
