Selma was my Grandpa's pet name for my Grandma, so when choosing a name for my shop, I felt Selma had to be a part of it.
My Grandma was artistic. She did the type of art most women her age in Finland did; she made beautiful rugs, table cloths, clothes and she knitted. Like my Grandma, I have always felt the need to work with my hands and to create something. It is a type of meditation almost.
I have also done many things in the past, such as knitting, sewing, painting, but I feel that jewelry making is the one I enjoy the most. I love creating original pieces, seeing what shape the piece takes while I work at it.
I love creating beautiful pieces of jewelry, mostly unique pieces, and I love sending them all over the world to people I don't know, and will never know, but who will wear them and hopefully enjoy them.
