I work from home designing and creating beaded jewellery and other decorative items. Some items are one of a kind and others can be made to order in a range of different colours or materials to suit your requirements.

Most of my designs start as a vague idea about a certain colour scheme, new bead or a technique. I never sit down with a pencil and paper to design my pieces - I will just take my vague idea to the work table, pull a few things together that just "feel" perfect together and the piece grows in the making. I always try to keep my designs simple, uncomplicated and unfussy - I like to just let the beads and the colours speak for themselves. If you overwork a piece, the original "feel" just gets lost in too much detail.

Most of my items are therefore usually one of a kind. Even if an item is one of a kind though, I can often create something very similar if that is what is required. You're probably also wondering who Annie is! Annie is my 4 year old border collie who came to me as an RSPCA rescue in 2009 and literally changed my life. You can see her with me in my profile picture. Beautiful Annie is deaf and epileptic and just the sweetest, most loving dog in the world.

It really is because of Annie, and my love for her, that Because of Annie came into existence. When my home circumstances changed a little over two years ago, I was faced with the choice of giving up the rat race or giving up Annie. Leaving any dog alone all day to go to work nine to five is cruel but in Annie's case it is definitely not an option due to her epilepsy.

The choice was a no-brainer - I couldn't bear to part with my beautiful dog! And that is why I am now out of the nine to five corporate rat race, which I hated, and living in the wild Fenland countryside, which I love, surrounded by nature and slowly turning a hobby into a business.
